So it appears I have 2 sets of Landing Party, and 1 set of Aliens, with an extra female Romulan for a total of 19 minis. This would be consistent with the Wee Warriors entry on the LMW, which lists 2 sets of 6 miniatures each - Landing Party and Alien Set. Over the weekend I snagged a copy on eBay - still sealed, even if the wrapping is a bit torn.

UPDATE (2/25/16): I went back and took another look at each miniature, and what I discovered was that there are 12 different poses total. Tell Me About 'Empire of the Petal Throne' (TSR) About the only glaring hole I've had from the early days of TSR / D&D (at least rules wise, not talk modules / adventures) is the original Empire of the Petal Throne. Once again, thank you to everyone who has contributed to this ongoing Star Trek minis mystery. Was the ad a simple oversight, as in they said Wee Warriors but meant Scruby? The Anshell Miniatures ad from issue 10 of Starlog Magazine (December 1977) that lists the 54mm and 25mm sets from Wee Warriors will remain an enigma, at least for now. And then earlier this week, I was contacted by a former Wee Warriors employee who saw the listings and let me know that Wee Warriors did not make or sell their own line of Star Trek miniatures. UPDATE (5/16/21): A couple of weeks ago I posted these guys on eBay. It took a while to finally ID these minis, but I have found that this community of collectors usually comes through. Please see Mike's comment in the comment section at the end of this post. Mike says that they are indeed Scruby castings, and they were only available in-store at The Soldier Factory. UPDATE (5/24/21): These are Scruby miniatures! Thanks to Mike Taber who answered my recent Facebook post on these guys. Namely, the phasers and lack of Starfleet uniform crest, as well as the lack of a raised collar on the Fed minis. There are no base markings on any of these minis, and while there are similarities, there are also subtle differences that make me think they are not Heritage. Or at least they are not part of the Star Trek line released by Heritage. They were listed as Heritage on eBay, but upon closer inspection, I don't think they are. Not all figures listed were actually sold.I recently picked up a small lot (19 minis) of what appear to be 25mm Star Trek miniatures. Moreover, some articles in The Imperial Military Journal refer to figure numbers that do not appear on any stock list that I have been able to find.Ī 1983 advertisement. Sometimes, these figures were only ideas and sometimes they only existed as one-off conversions of other figures with no molds. What further complicates this story is that some of the stock lists and advertisements for Tékumel Journal were only aspirational and included items that were never produced commercially or at all. It seems that some of these “master mold” figures, which were difficult to cast, were never sold commercially until PHD later acquired the molds.

Some of these figures existed only in single “master” molds.

  • A few more figures sculpted by Jeff Berry and Kathy Marshall, at the time members of Barker’s Thursday Night Group.

This led Barker to introduce the Urunén as a new Tékumel non-human race. According to one account, Barker received an unsolicited shipment of the figures with a note written in Tsolyáni encouraging him to use them in Tékumel.

  • A set of six Urunén figures (three command figures, a sorcerer, a halberdier, and a crossbowman) originally released by Wargames Publications in Scotland as the “Sons of Set” in the “Warriors of the Lost Continent” line (see these images on the Lost Minis Wiki and a hat tip to David Woods for pointing me to them).
  • Several new figures sculpted by David Sutherland (leading artist for TSR, one of the illustrators of the original Empire of the Petal Throne, and author of the Legions of the Petal Throne miniatures rules).
  • All the old Old Guard/Ral Partha figures (made from the same molds).
  • Production can be basically broken down as follows, but some details are unclear: This was a chaotic period and what was sold and when is not well documented. These individual packs are quite rare the figures were usually sold in bulk.
